Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

The Renault Kangoo is the Uk's most popular wheelchair adapted vehicle and is manufactured by more than one company. Due to this it is very refined and competetively priced. We predominantly use the Kangoo as many people who hire from us will already own or have driven this type of vehicle in the past and so will be very comfortable using it. We run three different types of Kangoo. The most common one being the Gowrings converted vehicle with either the capacity of three passenger seats and wheelchair user or 4 passenger seats and a wheelchair. The Gleneagles converted Kangoo has the capacity of 5 passenger seats without wheelchair user or the rear bench seat can be folded to allow 3 passengers and a wheelchair user. This vehicle also benefits from lowering rear suspension to decrease the loading angle. All of our wheelchair accessible vehicles are fitted with full wheelchair and passenger restraint systems, a ramp on the rear and a rear loading light.

We now have the new VW Transporters on fleet, these include

T30 2.5 TDi Automatic fitted with a rear hydraulic lift with two rear seats and a drivers seat. two wheelchair tiedown positions are available, one in the front next to the driving seat and one in the rear alongside the fitted seats. The vehicles were converted by Lewis Reed conversions.

T32 Long Wheelbase 2.5 TDi Tiptronic Automatic 174Bhp fitted with a ramp on the rear and a winch to aid in loading the chairs. Fitted with three seats in the front and two in the rear as well as positions for two wheelchairs. The Qstraint donut restraint system is used to secure the wheelchairs and occupants.
